APPLICANTS MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATION ASSOCIATE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE
The Medical Assistance Program (MAP) administers public health insurance programs, including Medicaid, for the City of New York. Applying individuals and families are approved for eligibility against applicable Federal and State guidelines. Those found to be eligible can use coverage provided to access doctors, medication and other health care services at little or no cost.
The Medical Assistance Program (MAP), Managed Care Client Services, is recruiting for one (1) Principal Administrative Associate II to function as a Section Supervisor, who will:
- Supervise unit involved in processing and verifying the eligibility of Unborn/Newborn for Medicaid and public assistance clients prior to enrolling into managed care and determining eligibility to disenroll Medicaid client from managed care plans.
- Interact with other program areas and managed care plan representative to assist clients.
- Oversee review of difficult and priority cases to ensure that rules of disenrollment and eligibility determinations are properly applied.
- Disseminate work, monitor the flow and status of assignments to ensure that mandated time frames are adhered to.
- Interpret State, Federal and Agency policies, procedures and regulations to resolve issues related to eligibility processing of mandatory managed care.
- Monitor and maintain control of units performance and activities in order to enhance services to the clients.
- Train staff to ensure that disenrollment actions are consistent with applicable laws and regulations and to keep staff abreast of new and revised procedures, Local/State laws and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
Preferred Skills
- Prior supervisory experience. - Working knowledge of WMS, eMedNY, and the Managed Care System (MCS).

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
