Job Description
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) Construction Management Unit has an opening for full-time painter. In this position, Painters are responsible, under supervision, for inside and outside patching and painting of a general nature, including all coats at DANY. Please note: all applicants for this position must be permanently appointed to the title of Painter or have passed and be on the eligible list for Painter Exam No. 2084 or 3071.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Works on and from ladders, platforms and scaffolds as jobs may require. Erects ladders. May rig lines and scaffolds.
- Prepares, fills and primes surfaces for painting. Mixes paint components and matches colors. Applies paint with a brush, roller or spray gun to surfaces.
- Applies plaster to surfaces including skimming walls and taping joints. Takes proper care of all materials, tools and equipment.
- Keeps work records as required.
- May operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties.
- Performs related work.
In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, candidates must possess the following:
- For appointment to certain positions, candidates will be required to possess a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.

o Hours: 4:00 pm to 12:00 am or 11:00 pm - 6:30 am
Additional Information:
- Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.

1. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a painter acquired within the last fifteen years; or
2. At least three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a painter acquired within the last fifteen years and sufficient full-time satisfactory apprentice painter experience to make up a total of five years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of apprentice painter experience.
